Written by Lauren Weisberger, The Devil Wears Prada is a chick novel that involves the tale of a young girl working as a personal assistant to the editor of a top fashion magazine, whose life becomes a nightmare dealing with a tough boss and her exhausting demands. The volume was on the New York Times bestseller list for a period of six months and was the inspiration to the movie which starred Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily blunt.
The book is a fun, light read and all the talk about the big fashion brands, designer houses and runways makes you want to be all over the pages and witness the world of fashion first hand. But life for Andrea (the assistant) is miserable since Miranda (her boss) is one tough nut to crack. She considers giving up on the job a number of times but is reminded how a million girls would die for it by someone every time.
The novel is more promising than the movie. Its’ fascinating account and Andreas tales cause envy and make you want to hug her at the same time.
