Bollywood has always been generous enough in clasping real and good talent into its arms. It has created an array of superstars from Amitabh Bachchan to Dev Anand to Shah Rukh Khan. Actors come, play their roles and go, but there are few, who leave their memories in the hearts of the audience. We all remember Dev Anand and his black attire for which, the girls were crazy or that forehead expression of Shah Rukh Khan that made girls go gaga for him and he continues to have that charm even today.
Indian cinema is all geared up to embrace a new talent and I have a feeling that this guy will go places and shine out his competitors. He is none other than Sushant Singh Rajput. Born on 21st January, 1986, Sushant hails from the city of Patna in Bihar. Let’s check out more about this gifted actor of Indian cinema.
Sushant’s Childhood and Early Life
Sushant hails from a typical middle class family. His father was a govt. official and mother a housewife. Sushant’s family moved to Delhi from Patna in 2000s and since then, they are based in Delhi. He is the youngest sibling and has four elder sisters. Sushant has been a studious guy since the very beginning. For the same reason, he stood 7th in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), held at national level.
Besides studies, Sushant had an inclination towards cultural activities as well. Whilst he was in Delhi, he joined the famous choreographer Shiamak Davar’s dance classes and Barry John’s theatre classes. Sushant was extremely passionate about acting, that’s why he left his college in between and moved to Mumbai to pursue his acting career. Sushant was a talented dancer and this talent paid him off too. He was chosen to perform at the 2006 Common Wealth Games and 51st Filmfare Awards as a back dancer. It all proved to be lucky for Sushant as he further performed with Ashley Lobo’s troupe and in many IIFA (India International Film Academy Awards) awards.
Professional Life of Sushant
Prior to foraying into films, Sushant tested his luck and skills on Indian television industry and that proved to be a landmark in his career.
In 2008, Balaji Telefilms’s casting team spotted him performing at one of his plays and asked him to give audition for one of their shows on Star Plus – Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil. Sushant was chosen to play the second lead role in the show. But, his popularity made him bag the lead role of Manav Deshmukh in Zee TV’s much popular show – Pavitra Rishta, in 2009. The show became a massive hit and people quite liked the duo of the show – Manav and Archana (Sushant & Ankita). They both won a lot of accolades for that show in the same year.
In December 2010, Sushant participated in a dance reality show – Jhalak Dikhla Jaa (Season 4) where he and his choreographer, Shampa Sonthalia, stood as a runner-up. He even bagged the trophy of the ‘Most Consistent Dancer’ in his kitty because of his incredible dance performances in various dance styles. Although, Sushant was at the peak of his career, he decide to pull his hands from Pavitra Rishta and went abroad to pursue a filmmaking course.
After completing his filmmaking course abroad, Sushant returned and auditioned for Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che! and he managed to play as one of three main leads. The flick was an adoption of Chetan Bahagat’s “The 3 Mistakes of My Life”. The flick became a hit and Sushant’s acting skills and talent were highly praised by critics and audiences. One of the biggest critics of Bollywood, Rajiv Masand, wrote in his reviews about the movie that a star is born in Sushant Singh Rajput and that his presence was indescribable in the movie. This made him bag the role in Aditya Chopra’s Shudh Desi Romance, opposite Parineeti Chopra. Not only this, he has been approached and finalized by Raj Kumar Hirani for his upcoming “P.K.”, starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma in lead roles.
Sushant’s Personal Life
Sushant met Ankita Lokhande on the sets of Pavitra Rishta and duo has been dating each other since last four years. Sushant is extremely vocal about his relationship with Ankita, who is currently playing as Archana in Pavitra Rishta. According to Sushant, Ankita has always been a pillar of support for him in his low phase of life and that his happiness gets multiplied whenever Ankita is around him. The actor has told media to get married to Ankita this year itself.
