Ladylike Dressing: Elegant is the New Stylish!

“While the last season’s lady was sexy and dangerous, this season she decided to go sweet and demure”

“Your clothes should be tight enough to show you are a woman, but lose enough to show you’re a lady.” said Marilyn Monroe once. The young faces of the fashion world are living by the phrase. Be it the elegant sheath dresses, demure hemlines, dainty jewelry of Duchess Catherine or Sonam Kapoor dressing out of the ordinary sleek in your face sexy dresses.

The new audience of ladylike dressing is younger than what you’d expect. Dropped hemline and plunging necklines are a passé what comes next is the era of elegance and power dressing.

Carolina Herrera puts it right “Women always go back to wanting to feel elegant — it’s in our nature.”

Minimalistic approach

A few months ago we saw the minimalistic approach, but the ladylike dressing is more about buttons and ornate Elizabethan and baroque trends.

Simplicity

As Carolina Herrera puts it, “simplicity goes hand in hand with elegance”. We live by the phrase and go for simple close cuts, which are not too close. Rich fabrics and minute detail in plain colors is what it’s all about.

Power dressing

Talking about 80’s power dressing was all about the boardrooms, but the newer avatar of power dressing takes it to the red carpets, as well. Gwyneth paltrow made an appearance in tom ford’s white column dress with a cape on the 2012 academy awards. Aggressive dressing in power suits is over. It’s more about the feminine subtle yet powerful dressing, and we welcome the new avatar of power dressing: the evening ensemble!

Accessories

Those were the days when you wouldn’t find a lady without gloves and hats, but they are gone now. But accessorizing is never a sin for the modern women. Envelope clutches and the tote bags are gaining the ‘It Bag’ status. A bold necklace and a pretty pair of earrings would be a delight.
