Type #1- Atrophic Crinkling Rhytids
These are very fine lines that occur parallel to each other on facial area.
Where They Occur: They tend to show at different parts of body and face, but they disappear when the body is stretched transversely. These types of wrinkles are associated with the loss of elasticity of related area of the body.
What You Can Do: Since these types of wrinkles are caused due to loss of elasticity, you can avoid them by making your skin supple and elastic, by using a sunscreen or a moisturizer that will make your skin plump and diminish the appearance of fine lines.
Type#2- Permanent Elastic Creases
These are the crease lines on the skin that become permanent with repeated exposure to sun, over the time. They are also caused by recurrent smoking habits.
Where They Occur: Most frequently, they occur on cheeks, upper lips, and base of neck.
What You Can Do: Since these types of wrinkles are caused due to over exposing in the sun and smoking, you can avoid these wrinkles by avoiding over exposure in the sun, and also quitting smoking. Start using a sunscreen that protects your skin completely from sun damage.
Type#3- Dynamic Expression Lines
These are the type of wrinkles that are caused by moving facial lines such as smile lines and frown lines. When you smile they become prominent, and when you are back to normal facial condition, they tend to get diminished. However, with aging these dynamic wrinkles become prominent, even during the time when you are not smiling or frowning.
Where They Occur: They occur around lips and also around eyes and around eyes, they are called as crow’s feet.
What You Can Do: To be true, these wrinkles cannot be cured by creams and moisturizers. You may end up using numerous anti-aging crèmes to cure them, but you won’t be able to get rid of them. The only possible treatment of these types of wrinkles is either a surgery or a BOTOX treatment.
Type #4- Gravitational Folds
As its name suggests, these types of wrinkles are caused by gravity and become more prominent as skin folds.
Where They Occur: The appearance of these types of wrinkles is associated with skin thickness. The areas where you have thin skin will have more such type of wrinkles as compared to thicker skin area.
What You Can Do: Cosmetic surgeries such as face lifts are the most effective treatments against such types of wrinkles.
You can hide the appearance of many types of wrinkles by applying a moisturizer or a sunscreen. However, if you seek a more lasting treatment, then you should consult a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon that can lift your facial skin by either a surgery or BOTOX. However, if you want to go for a lasting treatment, I would suggest you to opt for BOTOX as there is no surgery or cuts involved in the process.
