When you are done with the Holi celebration and your guests bid you goodbye, then comes the actual “Tough Time”. You have to struggle real hard to remove the harsh colours from your skin. And, while you go through this painful period, you take an oath to say “NO” to Holi next year.  Fear not! We have ways to calm you while you get rid of the colours. So, here is a list homemade facial masks that will smooth your skin and beautify you in no time!


Homemade Face Masks

If you have a dry skin, mix a table spoon of honey and almond powder to milk. Apply this mixture over your face. To soothe your skin, use this mixture as a scrub.

If you have an oily skin, use two table spoons of Masoor Dal, orange peel, some rose water along with lemon juice. Apply this mask all over your face for ten minutes, and wash. Your skin will turn to soft in no time!

If you have a normal skin, mash a banana along with two tablespoons of honey and milk. Put this mask all over your face and neck for 15 minutes. Wash your face with luke warm water, to get the glow!

To remove hash paint colours, use coconut oil. Dab some cotton in coconut oil to wipe your face with it. Soon, all the chemicals will disappear from your face.


Mix a table spoon of lemon juice and Aloe- Vera along with some water. Dip cotton in this paste and wipe your face with it. Soon, you will feel relieved of the harsh colours.

For a beauty bath, make a paste of gram flour, two table spoon of turmeric, and four table spoons of rice powder along with three table spoons of rose water. Make a thick paste on your face, neck, and feet. Use this paste as a scrub. Rub and wash to get a glowing skin.

Important Things to Remember


  • Always use cold water to remove the colours because hot water makes the colourfast.
  • Do not use excess of water over your face again and again. This will make your skin appear dehydrated.
  • Do not rub your skin roughly if the colour doesn’t come out easily.
  • Apply lemon wedges to lighten the colour.
  • Don’t go for a facial or bleach immediately.
  • Apply body lotion after your take bath.
  • Don’t expose yourself to the sun, after playing Holi.
