The extravaganza of glitz and glamour has already started in one of the most beautiful capitals of the world- Moscow, Russia and 86 contestants are vying for the coveted crown of Miss Universe 2013. The spectacular show will be aired live worldwide on November 9th from the Crocus City Hall, Moscow and one of the stunning 86 delegates will walk away with the sash and prestigious Miss Universe crown. Reigning Miss Universe from USA Olivia Culpo will crown the new beauty queen in days to come.
The excitement and nerve racking moment has already started as various contests have kicked off in Moscow. Contestants have gone through the personal interviews and also through the preliminary competition and based on these sub-competitions, top 15 will be chosen by the set of preliminary judges to compete on the final night on November 9th. I have analyzed each and every contestant much in detail by going through their interviews, swimsuits, and evening gowns presentations and based on these, I have come up with the final prediction of Top 15.
Here is the Top 15 in reverse order:
#15- Miss Hungary
Name: Rebeka Karpati
Rebeka has an amazing stage presence and she has certainly amazed everyone after her presentation at the preliminary competition. The only flaw that could stop her for taking the crown is her height ( 5’6”) and not to be forgotten is the fact that height has always been a matter of concern at Miss Universe pageant. But, she has the potential to wow the audience as being the Top 15 at least, if not a finalist.
Combined score: 7.80
#14- Miss Peru
Name: Cindy Mejia
Cindy is a very poised and confident contestant. She came off really well in the swimsuit and evening gown round, although I doubt her presence of mind in the interview round. She stands 5’9” tall and her walk is fierce. Though her face is not the “Miss Universe” material, but she has what it takes to crack the Top 15 and I think she will pull a surprise on November 9th.
Combined Score: 8.033
#13- Miss Nicaragua
Name: Nastassja Bolivar
Nicaragua has already made her presence felt at the pageant by bagging the trophy of Best National Costume leaving behind all the 85 nations. She has got a good height and facial features to flaunt but her body is not properly toned and now, she cannot really work upon it at the last moment. Moreover, her choice of gown for the preliminary was pathetic which overlooked her remarkable stage presence. Nevertheless, she is beautiful and charming and can land up into the semi-finals as she has got a good height and stage presence.
Combined Score: 8.20
#12- Miss France
Name: Hinarani De Longeaux
France was a strong contestant and was a pre arrival favorite contender for the crown, but the graph has gone down gradually as she has failed to make her presence felt at the pageant. But, she did it well in the swimsuit round of preliminary whereas she was not looking that great during the evening gown round as she ruined the look by creating a messy bun and choosing a plain white gown with no flow. She could have nailed the preliminary if she would have chosen things wisely. At the moment, I feel that she could be in the Top 15 and if she gets into that, she should really switch to a better gown and a nice hair-do as she is one of the gorgeous faces of this year’s contestants. She still has potential to wow the viewers and judges if she cracks the Top 15.
Combined Score: 8.25
#11- Miss Philippines
Name: Ariella Arida
Philippines has already bagged a Miss World crown this year and expectations from Ariellla are quite high to bring home yet another coveted crown. Philippines is the biggest pageant freak nation of the world and this the reason that Filipinos have been winning the online voting for national costume or photogenic awards. This year’s contestant is actually over-hyped and is considered to win the title by many. The biggest hindrance in her winning the title is her height. She nailed the swimsuit competition with her stunning catwalk skills while she looked horrible in evening gown with bad choice of gown and hair-do. I would have placed her higher if she would have done better in the preliminary competition in the evening gown round.
Combined Score: 8.33
(All the top 10 are my bets for the crown with minor score differences)
#10- Miss Colombia
Name: Lucia Aldana
She is another fierce and confident contestant to watch out for. She has an amazing catwalk skills and she nailed the evening gown and swimsuit round at the preliminary competition. She did pretty well at the interview round as well. The only drawback is her height. I have found many delegates to be beautiful and strong contender for the crown this year, but they fall short in height. Her gown was not excellent but was not bad either. The flow of her gown covered up for the color and embellishment. Overall, she did a nice job and a front runner for the crown.
Combined Score: 8.40
#9- Miss Venezuela
Name: Gabriela Isler
Miss Venezuela is another contestant that is being considered as a strong bet for the crown this year. She did it quite well in the preliminary, but the only complaint is that why does Venezuelan contestants wear the same type of gown every year. Their designers should give them something flow and subtle. Even this year, Miss Venezuela wore a gaudy gown with masses of embellishments studded which came off as being too over the top. Despite that, her walk was great as she was poised, composed and confident. It won’t be a surprise to see her taking home the glory once again as Venezuela has continued to maintain its dignity and prestige at Miss Universe by sending the potential delegates every year.
Combined Score: 8.46
#8- Miss Korea
Name: Yumi Kim
I have seen such a potential girl from Korea right after 2008. In 2008, Honey Lee was a perfect choice and bet for the crown from an Asian country and now this year Yumi has it all to take home the crown. She gathered a lot of applauses at the competition for doing impeccably well in both swimsuit and evening gown. She will surely be placed at the pageant this year and will get noticed by judges for sure and it will not be surprise to see her walking away as the new Miss Universe 2013. She has it all. No complaints.
Combined Score: 8.56
#7- Miss Paraguay
Name: Guadalupe Gonzalez Talavera
She oozes out oomph from every angle of her body. Amazing stage presence with fierce face and body don’t let you take your eyes off her face. She comes off as a beauty goddess on the stage and enchants everyone with her presence. Perfect posture with right poses during the preliminary has made her a favorite and strong bet for the coveted crown of Miss Universe.
Combined Score: 8.56
#6- Miss Brazil
Name: Jakelyne Oliveira
Brazil was not my personal favorite this year until the presentation show. She has certainly stolen my attention and her presence is tremendous. Her features, cuts and gestures are so gripping and flawless that you will fall in love with this South American beauty. She reminds me of Miss Brazil 2007- Natalia Guimarares, who missed the crown by just an inch. I hope that this should not happen to this year’s contestant and she should be noticed and should be crowned the new Miss Universe if she performs well at the finale.
Combined Score: 8.60
#5- Miss Poland
Name: Paulina Krupinska
Poland wore the same gown in which she got her pictures clicked in. the gown is quite hideous and I don’t like it at all. Despite that, Poland is placed so high in my list and the reason is her stage presence and confidence. From her body to facial features to her poise, everything is so great and perfect that you cannot think of any other beauty apart from her. She was a little disappointing in the swimsuit round as being a little weak on the stage but surely stronger than rest of the many delegates. Poland, this year, has what it takes to snatch the crown. Luck and wishes!
Combined Score: 8.63
#4- Miss India
Name: Manasi Moghe
Honestly, I was shocked when I heard the news that she was the new Miss India and will go on to represent India at Miss Universe. But, her hard work and dedication has certainly changed my opinion and views about her. Manasi has worked upon each and every part of her body and you can’t deny it after having a glimpse on it. She rocked the swimsuit and evening gown competition and made her presence felt. She was flawless in her walk while she has chosen the correct color for her gown which made her stood out from rest of the contestants. Actually, India is one over hyped country and expectations are quite high from the Indian contestants, but Manasi has got potential to lead the Miss Universe organization as the new Miss Universe. I hope that she fulfills the wish of India and brings back the glory.
Combined Score: 8.66
#3- Miss Bolivia (2nd runner up)
Name: Alexia Viruez
Bolivia is one of the strongest faces of the pageant this year and undoubtedly, she possesses all the qualities to clinch the crown. She is one of the youngest contestants yet she is so balanced and elegant. She chose the perfect red gown with perfect embellishment and flaunted it perfectly oozing out grace, poise, and feminism. I have a gut feeling that she will be one of the top 5 contenders and she might walk away the crown, who knows!
Combined Score: 8.69
#2- Miss Spain (1st Runner-up)
Name: Patricia Yurena Rodriguez
Patricia is blessed with such a curvaceous body for which all supermodels die for. Her walk is extremely fierce and worth watching. She walks nothing less than a supermodel. She chose the perfect and so “Miss Universe” types gown. I mean to say that her gown was full of flow and was spilling charm and making Patricia look stunning and exquisite. The whole world is having an eye on her and she will definitely be placed at Miss Universe and surely amongst finalists.
Combined Score: 8.70
Miss Universe 2013- Miss USA
Name: Erin Brady
Miss USA has been overlooked by many experts and websites but presentation show has brought her in limelight all again. She is ranked number one not just because the reigning queen is from USA so she might be crowned the new Miss Universe, but this girl actually possesses the qualities of Miss Universe. She has a lovely face, poised and well toned body and appealing smile. Besides she is full of liveliness and confidence that when she starts a conversation, one cannot get hold off her presence. She is all set to repeat the history and will walk away with the crown and crown will stay back in USA if she is going to win. For me, she is currently the top contender for the crown after watching the presentation show and the interview.
