Bollywood registered quite a strong presence at the recent Cannes Film Festival, with a lot of B-town celebs walking on the red carpet. Let’s have a look at who nailed and who failed the fashion frenzy.

Sonam Kapoor donned a white Anamika Khanna lace sari, which was perfectly gorgeous. The dramatic makeup and loose braid complemented her look, but we are still trying to figure out the secret behind her massive nose ring.

But, understanding our pain, Sonam got changed in a full skirted Dolce & Gabbana gown on day 2, at Cannes, which made us regain our faith in her style. The makeup and hair were just perfect for the dress.

Frieda Pinto looked pretty in a gorgeous Gucci gown as she arrived on the opening ceremony. She earns extra fashion points for the chic beaded belt and the side up-do.

We fell in love with Frieda’s second look at the red carpet of Cannes. She chose a sparkly gown, by Sanchita. The hairdo was again a delight to the eyes. The way she flaunted her toned legs and back at the Cannes, it captivated the hearts.

Vidya Balan was one of the jury members at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, and she chose to wear a lovely Sabyasachi Lehenga in white, with broad black borders. But, we are still wondering why she decided to wear that net dupatta over her head. Vidya gets negative points for styling.

Nandita Das was a bright surprise on the red carpet, with her orange silk Saree. She looked so adorable that we don’t mind her outright plain look on the red carpet.

Aishwarya chose a teal Gucci premiere gown, which was a great choice if she hadn’t worn that hot pink lipstick. Anyhow, we wish she had gone for a slightly lower bun, instead of the sculptural too high one.

This time, it was Sabyasachi all the way on the red carpet. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked no less than a baroque princess in her black lace & velvet sari, with appealing gold work. We found the whole look interesting.

On day 2 of the Cannes, Aish gave us a respite with a white, floor-length Anarkali by Abu Jani. The floral pattern stood out on the red carpet, but we wish she had done something different with her hair.

Vidya dressed in a floor-length Anarkali by Sabyasachi, for the closing ceremony of the 66th Cannes film festival. The shimmer dupatta was great, and we loved the loose braid. She finished the look with a matching clutch.

Ameesha Patel attended the ‘All is Lost’ premiere in a Manish Malhotra Lehenga, which was undoubtedly gorgeous but seems that we’ve already seen too many of these, this season. The ghost-face makeup has become the trademark of Ms. Patel, so we’ve started ignoring it now.

For the portrait session, Ameesha dressed up in a lovely Manish Malhotra number, with minimal jewelry and makeup. We loved her look here. Looks like somebody’s changing, and for good!
