Ayurvedic Retreat to Cancer

Progress in modern medicine has yet to go a long way to discover a potent treatment for many deadly cancers. Present allopathic medication doesn’t root out cancer completely; it just slows down the multiplicity of cancerous cells to reduce the immediate complexity that cancer causes.  Modern Science theory follows the concept of killing cancerous cells to cure cancer. The forms of treatment followed under the allopathic treatment are chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. The used toxic drugs, radiation and ablative surgery worsen the condition of a patient further.

Ayurveda can be an alternative! Practitioners have started realizing the contribution of ayurveda in treating cancer. It has worked out as a good option for patients who couldn’t find relief with the available allopathic treatment.  The ‘Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust’ (http://www.ayurved-wagholi.org/) is one such organization that has achieved a decent success rate in curing cancer patients. The center offers a supportive role to allopathic medication in cancer treatment. At the center, the cause of cancer is detected and accordingly treatment is provided.

Ayurvedic practitioners say that ayurveda does not offer instant cure to cancer patients but functions as an excellent support system in curing the disease. Ayurvedic theory beliefs that health problems and diseases are result of imbalances in the body and dissonance with the natural environment.  Ayurvedic treatment re-establishes the balance and strengthens the spiritual and biological forces of body.  Multiple approaches, such as herbal remedies, meditation, changes in lifestyle and exercise are combined to cure an ailment. Ayurveda treatment prolongs patients’ death and offers them the tremendous relief from physical suffering.  It aids in reducing the side – effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy greatly.  Commonly observed side-effects of allopathic cancer treatment include- hair loss, nausea, vomiting, dehydration, loss of appetite, severe weakness, irregular menses, gastric ulcers, low body immunity, hepatic insufficiency, cardiac problem, renal toxicity and anemia. It basically improves the patients’ quality of life.  The sphere of ayurveda in treating the cancer is immense. It is well evident from the way it is widely accepted worldwide.

How Cancer Happens?

Tumor is a group of cancer- cells. Cancerous cells are mutated cells. Human body develops 1 million mutated cells everyday and every day, body kills those 1 million cancer cells. Fifty millions new normal cells are produced in every second. In the process of cells multiplication, probability of error exists. These error cells are called ‘Cancer cells’.  Body has a system, called Immune system to kill these error cells. Something goes wrong with the system, and body lets these cells to grow and divide. These muted cells grow and divide at a quicker rate than normal cells. In this way, damaged cells grow in number. As a result, a tumor is formed.

How Ayurveda Helps?

Ayurvedic treatment is based on the principle of rejuvenation; that means rejuvenation of cancerous cells into normal healthy cells. Cancer occurs in that organ or tissue which is malfunctioned since long. That body part stops following the nerve signals, thus become prone to cancerous cells formation. Ayurveda treatment supports the purification process to bring rejuvenation in the cellular structure of the infected body part.

Ayurveda treatment dissolves the cancerous tumor by means of the Panch-karma and Ras-Rasayan Medicines. Panch-karma is done to detoxify or purify the body completely. Pre-panchkarma Therapy is carried out to prepare the body for Panch-karma therapy, so that complete detoxification of body can be done. For this, Deepana-Pachana-Snehana-Svedana processes are used. With the ‘Deepana-Panchana’, metabolic and digestive status of patients is improved. In the Snehana (Oleation) process, medicated ghee/ oil are used to remove externally and internally accumulated toxins. In ‘Svedana’, steam therapy of herbal water is given.

After this, Panch-karma therapy is applied. Depending on the type of toxin or disease, a suitable panch karma process is being used. Five major processes of Panch-karma therapy include:

  • Vamana(Vomiting)- Toxins of Kapha type are expelled through induced vomiting.
  • Virechna (Purgation) – Accumulated Pitta toxins are removed from the gall bladder and liver through the purgation therapy.
  • Basti (Colonic or Enema irrigation) – process to cleanse accumulated toxins (all 3 doshas-kapha, Pitta and Vatta) through the colon.
  • Nasya (Nose cleansing) – process of expelling out toxins from supra-clavicle region.
  • Raktamoksha-the procedure of cleaning the blood. It is done in rare cases as this process involves high risk of infection in cleansing the blood.

This way, each and every body -cell gets detoxified. In addition to this, Ras-Rasayan is also done. In this mercury, gems like pearl, ruby and diamond, etc and metals like silver, gold, and copper, iron, bronze, zinc, etc. are used in their ashes form to prepare medicines. By employing these procedures, metastasis and uncontrolled multiplication of mutated cells (Cancer) can be controlled with in 1-to-3 months.

Vigilance with Ayurveda

Medicines that are given as a part of ayurveda medication are not thoroughly examined to be effective in cancer. The medication may interact with dietary supplements, foods and medicines that can be detrimental to patients’ health. Some herbal remedies may be contaminated with arsenic, mercury and lead. This causes adverse health consequences. Patients seeking Ayurvedic remedies for cancer treatment should discuss complications (arising due to Ayurvedic treatment) to their allopathic physician.
