Allergy: Learn the Warning Signs

How will you know whether you are allergic to any substance?? Your body gives you some warning signs when you come in contact with the allergen. Here are some symptoms:

Insect Bite

When an insect bites, your body exhibits 3 types of responses:

Normal Response– It will result in redness, swelling and pain around the portion, where the biting site.

Localized Response– In this case, the swelling expands ahead of the biting site.When your body reveals normal or localized reaction, it’s not allergy.

Severe response– Yes, if your body shows some severe signs, as mentioned below, be careful! It’s allergy.

  • Wooziness
  • Quick decline in blood pressure
  • Restiveness
  • Breathlessness
  • Itchy and red hives
  • Swelling of throat, mouth and face.
  • Unconsciousness

Pollens

Grasses, weeds and trees unfetter minute particles during summer and spring season. These particles are known as “pollen”. These pollens might also be a source of allergy.

  • Headache
  • Cough
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Bronchospasm
  • Urticaria
  • Vomiting

Cosmetics

 All of us want to look elegant and gorgeous. For this, we use cosmetics. But, be aware! Some of these cosmetics may cart off your beauty, resulting in allergy. If you are encountering any of the following symptoms due to the use of a particular cosmetic product, avoid that.

Irritant Contact Dermatitis– Oozing blisters, red rashes, patches of scaly and itchy skin are some of the common symptoms.

Allergic Contact Dermatitis– Swelling, redness, hive like breakouts and itching are the warning signs.

Cosmetic allergy generally appears on neck, ears, eyes, lips and face.

Fragrance

 

Nonstop sneezing while washing clothes with a detergent?? As you enter a friend’s home, you feel giddiness due to smell of aromatic candle?? If these all are happening with you, then it sounds like you are prone to fragrance allergy!

Following are the symptoms of the fragrance allergy:

  • A stiff feeling in the chest
  • Asthma
  • Wheezing
  • Breathlessness
  • Headache
  • Stuffy and runny nose
  • Skin problems, like eczema, rashes, and hives.
  • Itchy eyes
  • Sneezing

Dust

 Dust allergy is very common now-a-days. Dusting, sweeping and vacuuming of house causes allergy. House dust contains dust mites and various types of bacteria and viruses, which are the source of this allergy.

  • Asthma
  • Wheezing
  • Tightness of the chest

Smoke

Tobacco cigar and cigarettes are the sources, which lead to smoke allergies. Infants, children, elderly people and heavy smokers get easily prone to this type of allergy. Some of the indicating signs are as follows:

  • Sneezing
  • Headache

Food

Food is essential for our health and keeping away several diseases. But, some food, like, soya, wheat, peanut, egg, shellfish, fish, milk, etc. might cause allergy. Amazing…! But truth!

Symptoms of food allergy:

  • Anaphylaxis
  • Vomiting
  • Stomach pain

Drugs

The allergic reactions to drugs may be mild or severe. Sometimes, it may be fatal. Pain killers (like morphine, codeine, indomethacin, ibuprofen, etc.), antiseizures (like carbamazepine, phenytoin, etc.) and antibiotics (like tetracycline, penicillin, etc.) may cause drugs allergy.

  • Prickly patches on the skin

  • Joints-pain
  • Swelling of lymph node
  • Throat and chest tightness

Pets

Are you a pet lover? Yes….It’s great! But, be wary! Saliva, urine and hair of your pet might be the cause of allergy. Given below are some of the symptoms of pet allergy:
