In the present scenario, allergy is a very common problem. In this article, I have included information about some of the allergic diseases:


Shortness of breath, coughing, tightness in the chest, seasonal changes and wheezing are the symptoms of asthma. Dust, smoke, pollution, paints, stress, exercise and obesity may trigger this disease. There is no treatment for asthma, but, a good medical care can prevent the disease. Inhalers provide immediate relief during asthmatic attack.


Sinusitis is caused by the infection from fungi, bacteria or virus. Stuffy nasal, cough, swelling and redness of nasal passage, fever, headache, sore throat and pain in the sinus are some of the symptoms of the disease. Over use of nasal sprays and cigarette smoke may also cause sinusitis. Amoxicillin is the antibiotic that is used to cure this disease.

Hay Fever

It is also known as rhinitis. Runny nose, seasonal congestion, itchy eyes and nose, teary eyes and sneezing are the warning signs of this disease. Seasonal changes, animal dander, food, dust mites and pollens are the causal elements of hay fever. Remaining away from the elements causing this disease is the best prevention.


It is also known as atopic dermatitis. Mostly young children and infants are affected by this disease. Food, perfume, detergents, soaps, humidity or chemicals may trigger eczema. The first symptom of this disease is intense itching in the skin. Other indicating signs are blisters and oozing abrasions. Eczema may affect any part of the body.

There is no treatment for this disease; however, you can prevent it by taking following measures:

  1. Avoid too hot water for bathing. Use mild soap.
  2. Wear cotton clothes.
  3. Avoid food and irritants (like jewelry, detergents, soaps, etc.) that causes eczema.
  4. Take care of hygiene.
  5. Wear gloves while working in water.


It is the most fatal and severe allergic disease. Anaphylaxis affects multiple systems of the body, simultaneously. Food, insect bite and penicillin may cause this disease. Symptoms of this ailment are vomiting, hives, swelling of eyes, tongue or face, rapid pulse, unconsciousness, abdominal pain, itchiness and redness of the skin.


It is also known as hives. Itchy and red elevated skin is the warning sign of this disease. It may appear in different sizes and shapes. Hives may ebb in one place and within a few hours appear reappear at other place. Urticaria is caused by insect bite, medications and food. Antihistamines are the best cure for this disease.


Watery eyes, itchy eyelids, inflammation in the eyes, redness of eyelid margins, swelling in the eyelids and loss of eyelashes are some of the signs of blepharitis. Bacterial infection, dandruff, chemicals, exposure to pets, like cat or dog and medications may cause this disease. Avoid eye make-up, don’t wear contact lenses during treatment and use dandruff shampoo for preventing this malady.


Inflammation in the vocal cords and harshness of voice are the symptoms of hoarseness. Extreme cold weather, smoke and medication are the causal factors of this disease. Avoiding use of arduous voice and smoke cessation are some of the preventive measures of the ailment.
