Stuffy nose may take away your night sleep. Persons suffering from stuffy nose, feel difficulty in breathing. They have to breathe through mouth that leads to chapped and dry lips. Overuse of nasal sprays, seasonal allergies, sinus infections, cold and flu can cause stuffy nose. You can treat this condition by using home remedies.
Here are some home remedies to get fast relief from stuffy nose.
1. Inhale Steam
Take a hot bath. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil in your bathing water. Alternatively, boil water in a pot. Pour 4-5 drops of eucalyptus oil in it. Wrap a towel on your head. Keep your head above the pot, and inhale the steam. It’s the fast home remedy to get relieve from stuffy nose.
2. Hot Peppers
Make your food spicy by adding cayenne pepper in your food. Consume it. When you eat this spicy food, your stuffy nose will begin to run.
3. Chewing Gum
Chew mint flavoured gum. It will help in unclogging the stuffy nose.
Chew ginger to drain the stuffy nose. You can also prepare ginger tea. For this, boil some water. Add slices of ginger in it. Continue boiling for 10-12 minutes. Add some honey. Drink it. It will break up the phlegm, clearing the stuffy nose.
5. Liquorice Tea
Boil liquorice tea in water, for 10-15 minutes. Strain it. Drink it. This remedy will break the mucus in the nose, providing relief from stuffy nose.
6. Peppermint Oil
Put small quantity of peppermint oil on a clean cloth or a cotton ball. Sniff the vapours. Else, prepare peppermint tea. Drink it, inhaling the steam. The menthol present in it will clear the congestion.
7. Apple Cider Vinegar
Mix 1 tsp of honey and ½ cup of apple cider vinegar in ½ cup of water. Drink it before going to bed. It will help you in getting rid of nasal congestion.
8. Tomato Tea
Combine 1 tsp lemon juice, ½ tsp hot sauce, 1 tsp fresh garlic, 1 cup tomato juice, and a pinch of celery or sea salt, in a food processor. Heat the mixture. Consume it. You will be able to breathe properly, within 15-30 minutes of consumption of this tea.
