1. Salt Water


Add a dash of salt to a glass of lukewarm water. Take it in your mouth and whirl around the gums, many times.

2. Alum


Take alum and grind it. Apply the powder on the affected gum. Practice it daily. It will bring the swollen gums back to normal.

3. Ajwain


Take some ajwain and roast them. After that, crush and grind them to prepare a powder. Add 2-3 drops of mustard oil to it. Apply it on the gums. This along with reducing swelling will also strengthen your teeth.

4. Castor Oil


Make a paste by mixing camphor in castor oil. Rub it on your gums. It will treat the swollen gums.

5. Henna Leaves


Boil some henna leaves in water for 15-18 minutes. Strain and cool the water. Take gargles with this solution. Do it two times a day. This remedy will provide you a quick relief from swollen gums.

6. Lemon Juice


Take a glass of boiled water. Mix the juice of a lemon in it. Gargle with this water. Repeat it two times a day. This is one of the effective home remedies, for dealing with swollen gums and bad odour.

7. Ginger


Grind a small piece of ginger into a thin paste. Mix a pinch of salt in it. Massage it on the swollen gums, twice or thrice a day. It will lessen the swelling.

8. Hot Water


Take hot water in a bowl. Dip a towel or clean cloth in it. Put it on your cheek, corresponding to swollen gum. Hold it for 15-20 minutes. This remedy will boost the circulation of blood, thereby decreasing gum swelling.

9. Baking Soda


Take a tsp of baking soda. Prepare a thick paste by adding some water. With the help of your fingers, apply it on the gum line. Brush your teeth as regular.

Essential oils like bergamot oil, almond oil or peppermint oil are also effective in curing swollen gums. Massage the swollen gum with any essential oil. It will increase the flow of blood in the affected area.

Squeeze ½ a lemon in the essence of the rose flower. Mix it thoroughly. Keep it in your mouth as long as you can. Then, spit it out. Repeat it 3-4 times a day. It will treat the swollen gums in a very natural way.

12. Clove Oil


Clove oil is an excellent remedy for all types of dental ailments. Massage some clove oil on the affected gum, with your index finger. This will bring down the swelling. Else, chew a piece of clove.

13. Bark of the Babul Tree


Boil the bark of babul tree in water, until the water decreases to half. Cool it. Utilize it for gargling. It will ease the swollen gums and also alleviate the pain associated with it.

14. Sheesham Tree


Take a small twig of sheesham tree. Ignite it. A frothy discharge will be produced from the other cut portion. Employ this froth on your gums. This home remedy will prevent swelling and bleeding of gums.
