Here are some migraine home remedies that are really effective.
1. Rub the Temples
Gently rub your temples. It will help in reducing the pain.
2. Black Coffee
Prepare black coffee without adding sugar and cream. Sip it slowly. It will restrict the blood vessels, thereby reducing the pain.
Note- Excessive intake of black coffee may cause headaches for some people or may worsen the existing headache.
3. Ginger Root Infusion
Ginger root is very effective in treating the sensation of heat and nausea, caused due to migraine. Take a fresh ginger root. Peel and cut in small slices. Put these slices in a saucepan and add enough water to it. Put it on the heat and boil for 15-20 minutes. Sip it slowly.
4. Peppermint Oil
Peppermint oil possesses anti-inflammatory and cooling properties. It lowers the symptoms of migraine. Massage this oil on temples, forehead and back of the jaw. Migraine headache will lessen in 30 minutes.
5. Tea Tree Oil
Take some tea tree oil in your palm. Massage it on your head, until it is absorbed by the skin. It will surely relieve the migraine.
Soak a cloth in vinegar. Put it on the portion of the head that is paining. Keep it for at least 30 minutes so that your skin can soak it. It will reduce the migraine pain.
7. Hot Tea
Have a cup of hot tea, whenever you feel the pain. For best results, add honey. Mint tea or Chamomile tea is also very effective in reducing the migraine pain.
Use cabbage leaves, compress on your head for getting rid of migraine.
9. Ice Bag
Wrap some ice cubes in a towel. Put it on your head and eyes. It will relieve the pain.
10. Henna Flowers
Henna flowers are effective in curing migraines. Immerse some henna flowers in vinegar. Rub them on the forehead. It will give instant relief from migraine.
11. Hot Shower
Take a hot shower, when you feel migraine. Allow the hot water to go in your neck. This will relieve the tense muscles, giving quick relief.
12. Hot Compress
Soak a towel in hot water. Put it on your head and face. Continue it for 20-25 minutes.
Some Healthy Tips:
- Dehydration may be one of the reasons of migraine. So, drink enough water.
- Bright light may aggravate the migraine. Therefore, rest in a dark room.
- Avoid smoking and drinking of alcohol.
- Take proper sleep.
- Do not skip meals.
- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
- Do exercise and meditation on a regular basis.
