The harmful UV rays, coming from the sun, increases a skin pigment (melanin) production in the body. This causes tanning in the skin. There is no permanent formula to remove tan because it keeps coming back, as soon as you get exposed to the sun.  To protect your skin from harmful UV rays, you should keep the body parts covered, and apply sunscreen before leaving the house. However, there are natural and homemade methods to enhance the renewal process of the cells (skin cells), underneath the layer of the skin, which are tanned.

Some homemade formulas to remove tan are:

1. Papaya and Salt:


Take 1/4 teaspoon of salt and two teaspoons of papaya (mashed). Mix up to prepare a paste. Apply it to the tanned areas of your body. Apply the paste properly, keeping it for 10 to 15 minutes at least. Wash it off with water. Salt works as scrubber, and papaya helps to polish the new skin.

2. Yogurt and Turmeric:

It works when used on a daily basis. Take the chilled yogurt. Add a pinch of turmeric. Mix it. Apply on the exposed parts such as arms, face and neck. Apply it daily, before taking a bath, and keep it at least for 30 minutes.

3. Honey and Lime juice:


It is an effective method to remove tanning from the face. Take equal quantities of honey and lime juice. Apply it on the face. Keep it for 20 minutes (Approx), and then wash off with a mild face wash or soap. It also works as bleach, to give a natural glow to the skin.

4. Glycerine and Lime juice:


Mix lime juice and glycerine in equal quantities and apply it on the exposed areas. When it dries, use normal water to clean your skin. Also, you can apply it as a night cream. Apply it at night, and wash it away the next morning.

5. Lime juice and Milk:


In a bowl, take three Tbsp of milk, and add one Tbsp of lime juice to it.  Mix it and apply on the face. Keep it for 10 minutes and rinse off.

6. Aloe Vera:


To remove tan, use the Aloe-Vera gel for your face. Keep it for a while and use warm water to clean your face.This would work as a cooling effect, and will makes your skin smooth.

7. Oatmeal, Honey And Papaya:


Take 2 teaspoon of oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of honey, and 1/2 cup of mashed papaya. Mix them to make a paste. Apply it on the face. Scrub your face for a while with soft hands. Rinse it off after 4-5 minutes with normal water.

8. Turmeric, Sandalwood and Rosewater:


Mix turmeric powder and sandal wood in equal quantity. Add few drops of rose water, and prepare a paste. Use it for your skin and keep it until it dries, and then rinse it off with cold water.

9. Lemon juice:


Do you have tanned feet? In lukewarm water, add some drops of lemon juice. Dip your feet for at least 20 minutes. It will clean and cool the feet, and will remove tan and sweaty odour.

10. Sugar and Lime juice:


Do you have tanned hands? In a bowl, take a handful of sugar. Use the lime juice to mix the paste. Use it for yourhands, and scrub it until the sugar almost dissolves. Leave it for 14-15 minutes and wash off.
